"It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

Wow! I just... I don't know! I need to process my thoughts... Okay! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was not what I expected at all! But then again it is a play and I really didn't know what to expect. I just didn't think I'd be reading a new Harry Potter story for the first time ever again!

The Cursed Child is certainly different to the original series what with it being a play and all that. You kind of need to use your imagination a bit more as there isn't much in the way of description, but of course I expected this. I haven't read a play in roughly 8 years so it did take a bit of time to get used to reading the format again but once I got into the swing of things I flew through the story.

Now, I'm not going to give any of the plot away but what I will say is it does add a whole different aspect to the events of the original series. It actually surprised me so much!

I did like the characters, but it actually took me a while to warm up to some of them oddly enough. Harry, Ron and Hermione weren't quite what I expected them to be like, however the new characters were very likeable (especially Scorpius - he was just adorable!) even is some very questionable decisions were made.

I would definitely recommend Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to die hard fans of the original series. Although I'd suggest reading with caution as it blows so many things out of the water. I definitely really want to see the play now! I've heard it's amazing to see! Someone needs to take me to London pronto!
