Top Ten Tuesday: Books My Mum Has Attempted


Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week's topic is a mother's day freebie (bit late for us in the UK haha!). I actually really struggled with this one! My mum's not a big reader, but I'm going to list the very few books that she has read or attempted to read in the past few years.

She really loves Guy Martin and motorbikes and she actually finished this book! (Guy Martin races in the Isle of Man TT)

Same as above... but I'm not sure she's finished this one...

What If I Had Never Tried It: The Autobiography
What If I Had Never Tried It: The Autobiography, Valentino Rossi
So, my mum loves Valentino Rossi more than Guy Martin (she even has a tattoo of his racing symbol...). She's actually currently reading this one just now too.

      My mum only wanted to because I'm so into it, but I don't think she will ever actually read them all.

    It is cool that your mom attempted to read these books, even if she didn't finish them! My mom's not a big reader either, I don't think she'd really care for Harry Potter, haha, but that's okay :)

      Yeah, she does try occasionally. I think I'm having more luck converting my sister-in-law into a reader though.

    My mom isn't much of a reader, although I think she wants to be. I think she doesn't really have the time and patience for it. But sometimes I will recommend books to her, and they usually have a Downton Abbey vibe, since she liked that show so much!

      I actually think my mum's the same - she just doesn't have the patience either. I don't think I'd recommend books to my mum though.

    Oh, I like this! I should've done one where me - as a mom - would try to recommend a book to my kids. Lol.

    What did your mom think of Harry Potter?

    My mom loved it when I recommended it to her many years ago. :)

    My mum's not a big reader either! I think she stopped at the third Harry Potter book.....

Discussion: The Problem With My Local Library

I used to use my local library all the time when I was in school.  Source I even spent every lunchtime in my school's library. My friends and I were pupil librarians and we practically had the run of the whole library. And then, when I started University, the only library I had time for was the University library. And that wasn't an enjoyable experience. However, last summer I started going to my local library again. (I then had to stop again when I got my job.) And unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed.  Source The availability sucks. I can deal with books I want that are already out on loan. It's the complete lack of decent books the library has on its system that gets to me. All those months I went to the library last year and I never left with a book that was already on my TBR.
