Top Ten Tuesday: Genres on my Wishlist

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week's topic is ten things on my reading wishlist. I''m going to actually go with genres I need to read more from.

  1. Historic - I always love a good historical fiction, but I rarely ever pick one up.
  2. Crime - This is a fairly recent development... I read a Stephen King and couldn't put it down.
  3. Biographies - I just have so many on my TBR that I need to get around to reading. I do take longer to read them than most books though as I like to take my time with them. Currently working my way through David Attenborough's Life on Air at the moment.
  4. Christmas (not technically a genre...) - I love a nice book with a Christmas-y feel. They just make me feel all fuzzy inside.
  5. Classics - I just need to read more of them. Full stop.
  6. High Fantasy - Especially Game of Thrones. I just need to find the time for these... they're just so big!
  7. Horror - I just want to read more Stephen King. I also started the Dexter series and loved it.
  8. Non-fiction -Like Biographies I have a few on my TBR, such as Brian Cox's Human Universe, that I really do need to get around to. Likewise, I will need to take my time with them.
  9. Supernatural - I've read a lot of fantasy, but have never really branched out into Supernatural and I actually own a few series, I think.
  10. Plays - I want to read more Shakespeare. This one does sort of link into Classics.

  1. I need more high fantasy too, I haven't been finding much lately? I like historical fiction sometimes too, and I actually wouldn't mind reading more Christmas stuff. I've read a few Christmas- themed mysteries and they were fun.

    1. I find it just so hard to find the time to read High Fantasy. I've never read a Christmas-themed mystery before, but they sound like they could be pretty good. I'll need to have a look for some!

  2. Ah, the classics! I once wanted to read the top classics at least, but I haven't gotten that much further since then... And high fantasy! Definitely agree. I have the Game of Thrones books all on my shelf, but I haven't read any of them... :)

    1. I'm wanting to read all the big classics too. I'm slowly getting through them, but they do take some time to read. I've been attempting Anna Karenina since November! I have all the Game of Thrones books too, but haven't got around to reading them either.

  3. I would love more good horror novels so much! I love them, but there aren't very many that are truly scary. Great list!

    Here are my Top Ten!

    1. Yeah, I can definitely see how it might be a hit or a miss with some horror novels. Some are a bit tame.

  6. There are some retellings of Shakespeare plays that are being released slowly. Have you read any of them? It started with Anne Tyler's Vinegar Girl which is a retelling of The Taming of the Shrew

    1. I don't think I have actually! Unless I just wasn't aware of reading them at the time. I think I'd want to read the originals before attempting any retellings too, just to see the differences.

  7. So, most of my favourite genres are on your list! I typically read nonfiction, historical fiction, mysteries and high fantasy. 😄

Feature and Follow (29 May)

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of  Parajunkee’s View  and Alison of  Alison Can Read . Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! I'm one of the featured blogs this week! Along with Amanda of  The Darling Bookworm . This week’s Question: How many books have you got on your TBR list? I recently had a bit of a cull of my TBR list so now it is sitting at 269. I'm trying my hardest to get it below 200 by the end of the year but I really don't see it happening. I'd currently be happy if I managed to get it below 225. However, I did recently have a look through my TBR on Goodreads and deleted a few books that I don't think I will actually ever read - I'm not even to sure how they got there anyway.
