Book Beginnings is a meme hosted every Friday by Rose City Reader where you share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

"The first of the nine-one-one calls came in at 8:14 a.m. A small group of hunters witnessed a small child running and screaming through the wood."
The Friday 56 is a meme hosted every Friday by Freda's Voice.
The Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It's that simple.
My Friday 56 is also from 56% of Stolen by Dawn Kopman Whidden:
"Keeping his back to the door so the cop couldn't see his face, he got close to Troy, trying to access his condition, as he made a pretense to swab the floor."

Here is €/£/$100,000. Buy something. Anything at all! What
would be the first thing you choose, and why?
I'm going to sound really grown up and say that I would use it to pay for renting my on place. I'm currently still living with my parents and whilst I love them I really do need my own space. I'm currently cramming all my books, clothes and DVDs (which I have a lot of) into my one room as well as all the other things I keep such as make-up, food, university work etc. This means I'm seriously running out of room. So, yeah my own place would be amazing! I could put all my belongings in logical places (i.e. books and DVDs in the living room, make-up in the bathroom etc) and space everything out more. I really can't wait to move out and it's also what I'm currently saving for at the moment.

Thanks for visiting :)
DeleteOh wow, that is one hell of an opening line! Imagine if that is the first thing you're faced with in the morning! I have an equally grown up answer, I'd put it towards my education! We're so responsible ;) Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend!

Yeah, the opening really draws you in.
DeleteI know, I'm actually seeing a lot of sensible grownup answers today.
Thanks for visiting :)
That opening line gave me shivers. The second one to do that to me today. My answer to the money is...pay bills and buy books. Now if we could multiply that money say 10 times or more, I'd by land and build a senior dog rescue. You can find mine here... http://lisaksbookthoughts.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying Stolen so far, I'm around 80% through it now so not long to go.
DeleteI like how a lot of us have such sensible answers, I didin't expect it.
I've been curious about Stolen....great excerpts! Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: “EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING”
ReplyDeleteStolen is really good, well worth the read!
DeleteReally good opening line! Makes you wonder and make you want to protect the child, really enticing!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it hooks you right it and made me want to find out more.
DeleteThat opening line makes me really interested in checking out that book! And good luck on getting a place of your own. That will be fantastic.

My FF!
I wasn't too sure about reading Stolen before I started but the opening just hooks you right in and I haven't stopped.
DeleteAw, I hope you're able to move out soon! Having your own place is soo liberating! It's nice having several rooms to yourself and not just your bedroom in your parents' house. (:
ReplyDeleteOld follower, thanks for stopping by!
Yes, I can't wait to have my own place just to spread myself out more haha!
DeleteI'm going to go check out Stolen. Sounds chilling and love that for late night reading. LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope you get your own home soon. Privacy and space for all of your things is a wonderful thing. It will come:)
