About Me

Welcome to My Expanding Bookshelf!!

Hi, I'm Lauren and I'm a 29-year-old from Scotland. When I was little a teacher introduced me to an activity that soon took over my life – reading. Of course, I was at that age where the first book I voluntarily read was a certain book I won't speak about now and it was the very same teacher that let me borrow her own personal set before I could persuade my parents to buy me them. Years later, and with an expanding collection, my family rarely see me without a book.

When I don’t have my nose stuck in a book I also love: going to the theatre, coffee shops, travelling (although I haven't travelled as much as I would like to), pub quizzes and spending time with family and friends. I also love music and have quite an eclectic taste.

My Expanding Bookshelf will feature the books I read alongside my thoughts on them (without spoilers for the most part).

Please don’t hesitate to comment on my posts and even email me at myexpandingbookshelf@gmail.com.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I'd Want on a Desert Island (27 July 2021)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl . This week's topic is books I'd want with me whilst stranded on a desert island. I've decided to split this into my favourite books that I'd want to reread and the longest books I still have on my TBR as I'd get the chance to attempt to read them if I was stuck on a deser island.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl . This week's topic is books I can read in one sitting. I've taken this as books that I've managed to read in a day rather than a single sitting and I've managed this with a few books, but these are ones that I definitely remember not taking long with.
