Book Beginnings is a meme hosted every Friday by Rose City Reader where you share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.
Hard to know which books a reluctant reader would choose. It's hit or miss. You chose well for her.
ReplyDeleteIt really is! I just try to find books very similar to what she's read or shows she likes.
DeleteMidnight library was great…but I couldn’t read Me Before You. Too sad.

Happy TTT!

I absolutely loved The Midnight Library. One of my favourites of the year.
DeleteA great list!

I love that you based your list on a read person who doesn't like to read. I loved The Midnight Library so much.
ReplyDeleteI just find it so hard to recommend books to reluctant readers so I just went for the easy option haha! The Midnight Library was fantastic!
DeleteI'm with Wendy—I think it's cool that you used books that have actually worked for a reluctant reader. It's a lot easier to know what someone might like when you know them well.

I found it so much easy to base it off my sister-in-law this week. I'm never sure what to recommend to people when they don't read.
DeleteI've read Me Before You and The Midnight Library, sounds like I have to read the others too. Happy reading!

The Midnight Library is fantastic! The others aren't quite my taste, but as long as they get people reading that's the main thing!
DeleteIt's much easier when you have someone to base it off! Most of my friends are big readers, and the one who isn't, the only books I successfully recommended to her were the Harry Potter books, which she did enjoy, but I don't want to push her boundaries and offer recommendations where they're not wanted. My mum's not a big reader either, but she's never really shown much interest in wanting recommendations, so again, I don't push it!

I agree! Unfortunately, I don't really have any reader friends. Even my family doesn't really read too much.
