I used to use my local library all the time when I was in school. Source I even spent every lunchtime in my school's library. My friends and I were pupil librarians and we practically had the run of the whole library. And then, when I started University, the only library I had time for was the University library. And that wasn't an enjoyable experience. However, last summer I started going to my local library again. (I then had to stop again when I got my job.) And unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. Source The availability sucks. I can deal with books I want that are already out on loan. It's the complete lack of decent books the library has on its system that gets to me. All those months I went to the library last year and I never left with a book that was already on my TBR. I walked around that place looking at my Goodreads trying to find any book on that list. And I couldn't find any at all (except for the Classics). To be honest, I ...
I literally just commented on another TTT post saying that I read Wild Swans years ago and I remember enjoying it :) I've seen a lot about How to Stop Time by Matt Haig and I'm definitely looking forward to trying it at some point. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI'm still reading Wild Swans and it's so good! I loved How to Stop Time. Definitely one of my favourites.
DeleteI’ve had _How to Stop Time_ on hold at my library for a minute. I’m looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!

I loved it so much! I hope you get your hands on it soon.
DeleteWe did a similar theme this week. I added the Eliza Hamilton book but I also loved The Book Thief. Here is my post-https://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2021/11/top-ten-tuesday-books-to-read-if-you.html.
ReplyDeleteThe Book Thief is one I'll always remember. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteWe Are Not Free by Traci Chee is another great historical fiction that people should read.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll need to check it out.
DeleteI need to make it my goal to read "The Book Thief" next year as I keep saying I'm going to read it, but have had no time!! I also wouldn't say I love history, but my list today proves otherwise, LOL. Here is my post: https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2021/11/top-ten-tuesday-new-authors.html
ReplyDeleteThe Book Thief is such a good book. I hope you can read it soon.
DeleteHistory and historical fiction are two of my favorite genres. Ditto most anything by Michael Morpurgo, including 'An Eagle in the Snow' and 'A Medal for Leroy.' Good list!
ReplyDeleteI love a good historical fiction. War Horse is the only Morpurgo I've read. I really should read more though.
DeleteAww, War Horse. I love that book so much, despite its sadness.
ReplyDeleteAnd I remember seeing Rembrandt's Daughter at the library, but I don't think I ever got around to reading it (alas, just checked the catalog and it's gone now). Nice to see an older YA rec.
I've owned Rembrandt's Daughter since I was a teenager and I reread it so many times back then. I think it must have been the book that started my love of historical fiction.
DeleteThese all look good, but I was immediatley drawn to How To Stop Time, Matt Haig because I recently finished The Midnight Library.
ReplyDeleteI have loved both How to Stop Time and The Midnight Library. They were both 5 stars for me, so I highly recommend checking it out.
DeleteThe Book Thief is one of my favourite books!
