Book Beginnings and The Friday 56 (6 March)

Book Beginnings is a meme hosted every Friday by Rose City Reader where you share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.  Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

The Friday 56 is a meme hosted every Friday by Freda's Voice.
The Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It's that simple.

So both my Book Beginning and my Friday 56 are from The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.  A book that has been on my TBR list for ages and I've finally got around to reading it.

My Book Beginning:

"First the colours. Then the humans. That's usually how I see things. Or at least, how I try."
 My Friday 56:

"All was dark and hazy, and small chips of rain were starting to fall."

  3. Aah this is one which I have picked up twice so far and not gotten through, for some reason! I absolutely love the prose, it's beautiful, but somehow it didn't grab my attention straight away!
Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have an amazing weekend!

    1. I forced myself to finish it. Like you said, the prose is lovely but it takes a long time to get nowhere. In retrospect, I should have given up on it and saved myself the time.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I'd Love Santa to Leave for Me

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is the top ten books I wouldn't mind Santa leaving under my tree. Really I'd welcome all books under the tree but these are ones that I've seen around a lot or recently.

Feature and Follow (29 May)

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of  Parajunkee’s View  and Alison of  Alison Can Read . Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! I'm one of the featured blogs this week! Along with Amanda of  The Darling Bookworm . This week’s Question: How many books have you got on your TBR list? I recently had a bit of a cull of my TBR list so now it is sitting at 269. I'm trying my hardest to get it below 200 by the end of the year but I really don't see it happening. I'd currently be happy if I managed to get it below 225. However, I did recently have a look through my TBR on Goodreads and deleted a few books that I don't think I will actually ever read - I'm not even to sure how they got there anyway.
