Musing Mondays (16 March)

MusingMondays5
Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by A Daily Rhythm that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:
  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…
I've just finished reading The Princess Bride (review should be up later today).  Next, I will be reading a review copy of Safe by Dawn Husted - a YA dystopia novel.  I am itching to start Safe and I'm hoping it's as good as it sounds.  My review should hopefully be up on Thursday.

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: How often do you use your local library? Are you happy with their availability?

Honestly, I don't actually use my local library as much as I used to.  I have so many books at home that I'm trying to work my way through before I borrow books from the library.  However, I do keep meaning to go for a look - but I know fine and well that I would come home with at least one book.  From what I can remember my local library does have a very good selection.  Also, as it's part of the Angus Council group of libraries, if they don't have a book they will track it down in one of the other libraries for you and get it delivered for you.  The catalogue for Angus Council libraries is also available online which is also a help if you know what you're looking for.  It also helps that my brothers godmother is a librarian at one of the other libraries.

  1. I have to put up my hand and say I don't use my local library any more. The ones near where I live are small and out of the way, so i don't visit and it's a matter of lifestyle circumstances that took me away from libraries.I also started work and starting buying the books I knew I'd never let go. And also second hand bookstores! I found such an amazing one near me that let me get TONS of books that lasted for months on end.

    1. Yeah, it could just be me being lazy now, but sometimes I think why would I walk down when I can just get books delivered to my house (granted it I have to pay for said books)

  2. I don't as often as I ought, for reasons of inability to get there. are we contributing to their decay?

    1. I believe we are, it's so much easy (what with busy lifestyles) to just books delivered. It does mean paying for them but at least we can keep them if we really enjoy them.

  3. I do love my neighborhood library, and don't visit as often as I once did...but I do donate books there whenever I purge, which has been a lot this past year.

    1. I never thought about donating books to the library... I usually give mine to my towns Cancer Research store when I purge.

  4. After years of being a dedicated library user, I've lost count of the number I've belonged to over the year I rarely visit these days as I have so many books I own, get to read for review purposes or are lent to me by friends. That said I have the security that it is there should my TBR ever turn into a molehill instead of a mountain.

    1. I'm the same, as soon as my TBR gets smaller then I shall go back to the library

  5. I don't use the library as much as I did before and I have so many books at home that I haven't read yet.

    1. Yeah, I'm the same. Have so many unread books at home that I really should read those before I venture to the library again.

  6. I do love libraries, and for years, libraries were my primary source of reading material. But then, as soon as I could build my own personal library, I was addicted to buying.

Feature and Follow (29 May)

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of  Parajunkee’s View  and Alison of  Alison Can Read . Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! I'm one of the featured blogs this week! Along with Amanda of  The Darling Bookworm . This week’s Question: How many books have you got on your TBR list? I recently had a bit of a cull of my TBR list so now it is sitting at 269. I'm trying my hardest to get it below 200 by the end of the year but I really don't see it happening. I'd currently be happy if I managed to get it below 225. However, I did recently have a look through my TBR on Goodreads and deleted a few books that I don't think I will actually ever read - I'm not even to sure how they got there anyway.
