Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week's topic is the top ten authors I really want to meet. There is so many authors out there that I would love to meet so it's been hard to narrow it down to ten.
Michael Crichton - Two words: Jurassic Park. Another obsession of mine is dinosaurs - I will watch/read anything about dinosaurs. Michael Crichton wrote two books about dinosaurs so there was no way that he would not make it onto this list.
J.R.R. Tolkien - He created Middle earth people! Too come up with so many characters/places etc is amazing! And he didn't even write it down to begin with... I barely manage to remember what I had for breakfast never mind a whole world!
William Goldman - As you have probably seen me mention before I love The Princess Bride. It's one of my all time favourites. I have so many fond memories of the book and the movie. Of course William Goldman would be on this list.
Meg Cabot - I was obsessed with her books during my early teenage years. I would purely like to thank her.
Jacqueline Wilson - As above.
Harper Lee - I read To Kill A Mockingbird at school, I didn't like it then. But then I read it again a few years later and I loved it. It's just so thought-provoking! I can't wait to read Go Set a Watchman either.
Roald Dahl - Along the same lines as Meg Cabot and Jacqueline Wilson. I read so many of his books during my childhood. In school we were always reading on of his books or watching an adaptation.
Phillip Pullman - Again another childhood favourite... I'm sensing a slight trend here...
Stephen Fry - I cheat... I've not actually read any of his books yet. But he is absolutely amazing and has such vast knowledge that I can't wait to get my hand on one of his books.
Feel free to leave a comment.
I limited myself to living authors so Roald Dahl wasn't on mine but he is one of my favourite authors. JK Rowling was in my list too. I absolutely loved Jacqueline Wilson's books when I was a younger teenager, so I would like to meet her for the same reasons as you. Meg Cabot is also a good one, although she wasn't on my list.

Yeah, I thought of limiting to living authors but my mind went totally blank so I decided to expand.

Harper Lee is such a wonderful choice! Great list!
ReplyDeleteWhat a depressing moment in your current read. I hope no one dies of boredom or something equally tragic! ;) My TT
ReplyDeleteRowling, Tolkin, and Fry would probably make my list as well. ;)
Yeah, it is rather depressing, I ended up DNFing it.
DeleteSo many awesome authors on here, but particularly fangirling over William Goldman! I will never be over my love for The Princess Bride! Such an awesome list, thanks for sharing!

Hopefully the creature that wags its tail will get her back on track!

Unfortunately, I will never know. I just couldn't get into the story so it was a DNF
DeleteGood teaser!
ReplyDeleteI'm playing at Beth Fish Reads.
Thanks!
DeleteI absolutely love that you chose Rowling because she's such an amazing writer and she seems like a pretty great person.

Yeah, she always seems so down to earth when you see her in interviews and I think it's great that she is always giving us little extra tidbits about Harry Potter
DeleteWhat a gripping excerpt! Thanks for sharing...and here's mine: “BITTERSWEET”

DeleteI would love to meet JK Rowling and Meg Cabot, but for some reason I didn't add them to my list. They are there in spirit! Great list!

There are so many authors that I haven't listed too! I would love to meet almost any author!
DeleteGood Teaser. At least he has a dog for companionship!
ReplyDeleteMy Tuesday post features THE OTHER SIDE OF HEARTACHE.
I'm not actually sure what it is that he has with him. It's definitely not a dog - it hatched from an egg. But I will never know, I just couldn't get into the story so it was a DNF
DeleteIt would be awesome to meet Harper Lee. I hadn't thought about adding her to my post this week. I look forward to reading her new book later this year.

Yeah, I just looked at the books I had on my shelves to help me choose this week and To Kill a Mockingbird just stood out.
DeleteOoh, I loved Jurassic Park too! And Stephen Fry is a good pick - his books are superb :)
