The weather is stormy, and the room is dark and cold. Michael dreams about a woman in the comfort of his bed, missing her warm against his naked body, he ponders, wondering what he can do to change his lifestyle and crummy house. He hates his job and his daily routine. This isn't just any morning, though. Michael is about to embark on a journey that will change his perspective of life. Darkest Light is a fantasy and a romance, full of mystical creatures, magical scenes and a beautiful alternative world, which will set your imagination loose.

I really wanted to like Darkest Light but I just didn't get it. Although it is set in an alternative universe, which I usually find really interesting, I just found Darkest Light quite boring. Probably because I didn't really see the plot going anywhere and the main character was alone. I also felt it was quite slow going.

I didn't even find Michael particularly interesting and it seemed to me like he just settled as he was and didn't make much effort. I also found Michael's narration quite frustrating - if I read "the creature" once I read it a thousand times. When Michael was on his own so I felt that he was repeating himself a bit even though the descriptions were beautiful.

I'm disappointed I couldn't finish Darkest Light and I do hope that others will like it more than I did. I'm not sure who I would recommend it too though. I also doubt that I will read Alex Taylor again as he is apparently working on a sequel.

Feature and Follow (29 May)

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of  Parajunkee’s View  and Alison of  Alison Can Read . Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! I'm one of the featured blogs this week! Along with Amanda of  The Darling Bookworm . This week’s Question: How many books have you got on your TBR list? I recently had a bit of a cull of my TBR list so now it is sitting at 269. I'm trying my hardest to get it below 200 by the end of the year but I really don't see it happening. I'd currently be happy if I managed to get it below 225. However, I did recently have a look through my TBR on Goodreads and deleted a few books that I don't think I will actually ever read - I'm not even to sure how they got there anyway.
