Book Beginnings, The Friday 56 and Feature and Follow (10 April)

Book Beginnings is a meme hosted every Friday by Rose City Reader where you share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.  Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

My book beginning is from The Tears of the Unicorns I - Temptation by Stephanie Rose:
"In my dream... I have visited this place many times... this world, where the light is at home... Your world... And I will visit this place again until I find you..."

The Friday 56 is a meme hosted every Friday by Freda's Voice.
The Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It's that simple.

My Friday 56 is also from The Tears of the Unicorns I - Temptation by Stephanie Rose:
"She had never been a friend of the Idha'har: on the contrary, she detested them."

bloglovinGFCThis week’s Question:
Have you ever read a book you thought you'd hate but loved?  Or vice versa?

I probably have read a book that I thought I would've hated but I can't actually think of anything... Actually looking at my bookshelf maybe Wuthering Heights.  I had to read this for English in school and the thought of having someone read to me (which is the way we read books in class) fills me with dread and despair.  But I actually found myself listening and concentrating on the book whilst my teacher read to us and that had never happened before.  Usually I would have to reread each book myself to get any work down.

One book I hate (actually it's a bit of a strong word) is The Woman in Black.  I really liked the film with Daniel Radcliffe which is odd because I hate horror films and only went to see it because of Daniel Radcliffe.  So I decided to read the book and I was so disappointed with it.  I got bored whilst reading it and I don't think that should happen in a horror book.

  1. Oh, that's a shame about The Woman in Black. (I hate horror films too, and like you went to see it because of Daniel Radcliffe... but it was too scary for me!)

    1. Compared to the film, the book to me just wasn't scary enough. I can read scary, just not watch it most of the time.
      Thanks for the follow :)

  4. I didn’t think I’d like Wuthering Heights either, but I ended up loving it. And, I didn’t know that The Woman in Black was a book. I thought it was just a movie.

    1. The film was actually a remake too. The first film was in 1989 and the man that played the older James Potter played the same character as Daniel Radcliffe.

  5. I haven't read either of those books, so we'll have to see if I like them!

    1. I know that a lot of people don't like Wuthering Heights... I think it's just one of those books you either love or hate. But I hope you do like them both if you get around to them

    1. I suppose it is worth the read just to see how it compares to the movie. It just didn't seem to be for me.

    1. There were very few books that were mandatory for school that I liked. Maybe like less than 5 out of a lot. I almost failed one year because I just couldn't get into the books.

    2. I've finished Tears of the Unicorns and sadly I didn't enjoy it. It sounded really interesting too so I'm slightly gutted.

I was the same. I didn't enjoy a fair few of the books I had to read in school.

    1. The movie is scary but as long as your watch it during the day it's not too bad. I didn't find the book scary at all though.

  14. I have to agree with you on Wuthering Heights. I know it's a classic and everyone's supposed to love it, but I couldn't get past Cathy's selfishness. And no HEA. I need a good HEA! New follower. :-)

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of  Parajunkee’s View  and Alison of  Alison Can Read . Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! I'm one of the featured blogs this week! Along with Amanda of  The Darling Bookworm . This week’s Question: How many books have you got on your TBR list? I recently had a bit of a cull of my TBR list so now it is sitting at 269. I'm trying my hardest to get it below 200 by the end of the year but I really don't see it happening. I'd currently be happy if I managed to get it below 225. However, I did recently have a look through my TBR on Goodreads and deleted a few books that I don't think I will actually ever read - I'm not even to sure how they got there anyway.
