Book Beginnings, Friday 56 and Feature and Follow (8 May)

Book Beginnings is a meme hosted every Friday by Rose City Reader where you share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.  Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

Of Love and DistanceMy Book Beginning is from Of Love and Distance by Divya Jyoti Randev:
"I surrendered.
I surrendered.
I surrendered.
It was no use fighting."

The Friday 56 is a meme hosted every Friday by Freda's Voice.
The Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It's that simple.

My Friday 56 is also from 56% of Of Love and Distance by Divya Jyoti Randev:
"'Then stay.  We'll get your tickets cancelled tomorrow.' His pleading eyes locked into mine."

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

The featured blog this week is Nicola Reads YA.

bloglovinGFCThis week’s Question:
How do you decide what books to read?

I will usually read any ARC or review copies first depending in their release date/deadline.  I keep a schedule of these dates in OneNote and colour code everything.  When it's one of my own books or a book on my TBR, I will go by either my mood, continue with a series is I can or use random.org to randomly select a book from my Goodreads TBR list (it's quite handy that Goodreads numbers them all).

  1. I love your OneNote idea. I love finding out how everyone else organises their reading. Also never thought of using random.org before but I think I'll definitely be doing that now! :)

    1. Yes, random.org makes it so much easier to choose something to read if you're really stuck.
      Thanks for following!

  2. I try to read ARCs first but I get behind. So, for every two ARCs I read I will read something of my own choosing. :) New follower via GFC. http://angreads.blogspot.com

  5. I should follow your example and get more organized. I also read my ARCs first but I don't have any real means of keeping them in order or keeping up with the release dates. I should be better about that!

    1. I wasn't this organised until about a month ago. It is definitely so much easier to keep track of everything now and I don't get book releases mixed up or anything.

  6. Oh, I never thought of using random.org, but I just randomly select a book (based on its cover which is really bad I know) on my TBR.

  7. I have never used random.org...sounds interesting though. I like to keep organized so I keep spreadsheets, and it helps me have a balance in the books that I read...and makes sure that I don't forget the books I need to read such as ARC's.

    1. Yeah, OneNote helps me in the exact same way. I check my schedules everytime I finish a book to make sure I'm on track! Maybe I'm a bit OCD though!

Feature and Follow (29 May)

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of  Parajunkee’s View  and Alison of  Alison Can Read . Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! I'm one of the featured blogs this week! Along with Amanda of  The Darling Bookworm . This week’s Question: How many books have you got on your TBR list? I recently had a bit of a cull of my TBR list so now it is sitting at 269. I'm trying my hardest to get it below 200 by the end of the year but I really don't see it happening. I'd currently be happy if I managed to get it below 225. However, I did recently have a look through my TBR on Goodreads and deleted a few books that I don't think I will actually ever read - I'm not even to sure how they got there anyway.
