Bout of Books 18 - Day 2

Bout of Books 18

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 2nd and runs through Sunday, January 8th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 18 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team.

I haven't participated in Bout of Books before so I thought this one would be a good one to start with. I'm actually still off work for the Christmas break during it, so I'll hopefully have quite a bit of extra time for reading. However, as it is the New Year I will have some family parties to attend during the week so I'm not really holding out on getting to much read. I'm going to set my goal as 3 books and hope I can read a little bit more than that.

To Be Read:
Norse Mythology, Neil Gaiman
Odd and the Frost Giants, Neil Gaiman
Unf*ck Your Habitat: You're Better Than Your Mess, Rachel Hoffman

Updates:
Day 1:
  • Currently reading - Norse Mythology, Neil Gaiman
  • Books finished today - 0
  • Pages read - 13
  • Total books finished - 0

  1. Happy reading to you!! Good luck with your reading goals this round of BOB. I am having a blast so far and have just finished my first book around 2pm... It's wet and rainy where I live, which has made it easy to stay indoors and focus on reading. :-)

Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I'd Love to Check in With

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by  The Broke and The Bookish .  This week's topic is the top ten characters you'd like to check in with.  I really struggled with this one, my brain just went blank and I couldn't really think of anyone besides pretty obvious choices.

Discussion: The Problem With My Local Library

I used to use my local library all the time when I was in school.  Source I even spent every lunchtime in my school's library. My friends and I were pupil librarians and we practically had the run of the whole library. And then, when I started University, the only library I had time for was the University library. And that wasn't an enjoyable experience. However, last summer I started going to my local library again. (I then had to stop again when I got my job.) And unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed.  Source The availability sucks. I can deal with books I want that are already out on loan. It's the complete lack of decent books the library has on its system that gets to me. All those months I went to the library last year and I never left with a book that was already on my TBR. I walked around that place looking at my Goodreads trying to find any book on that list. And I couldn't find any at all (except for the Classics). To be honest, I ...
